FREE Continuum Screening

Winter’s Bone

January 9, 7 p.m.

Oklahoma Contemporary

11 NW 11th Street in OKC

We’re teaming up with Femme Film and Oklahoma Contemporary this week to present a FREE Continuum screening of the independent film Winter's Bone (2010) directed by Debra Granik. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence in her Oscar®-nominated breakout role as a poverty-stricken teenager trying desperately to protect her family from eviction. Adapted from the 2006 novel by author Daniel Woodrell, the film also stars John Hawkes, Dale Dickey, and Garret Dillahunt. Following the screening will be a discussion with OKC filmmakers Paris Burris and Kirsten Therkelson.

Femme Film screens movies made by femmes to the Oklahoma community for free. “Femme” is an umbrella term to describe those targeted by sexism and misogyny, including but not limited to woman, nonbinary, trans, and genderqueer individuals.

Femme Film was started in September 2020 by Paris Burris, a filmmaker and film programmer in her hometown of Oklahoma City. Paris is also a short film programmer for the deadCenter Film Festival. She loves making independent films with her friends and is an unabashed cinephile who loves discovering and sharing underseen films.
