deadCenter University + Rose State College Teen Workshop is a free week-long filmmaking camp for Oklahoma high school students living more than 30 miles outside the Oklahoma City area, taking place July 13–17, 2026. Selected students will take on real film crew roles and collaborate to create a short film that will premiere at the deadCenter Film Festival. Participants will receive free housing, meals, a festival pass, and IMDb credit for their work.
The deadCenter University + OCCC Youth Camp is a week-long filmmaking experience for Oklahoma high school students held June 1–5, 2026 at Oklahoma City Community College. Students selected for one of 20 crew positions will collaborate to create a short film that will premiere at the deadCenter Film Festival. Participants will gain hands-on production experience, receive a festival pass and IMDb credit, and have their film submitted to additional festivals.
The Summer Film Camp at the University of Central Oklahoma is happening from August 3rd to August 7th, 2026.
This exciting opportunity allows participants to compete for one of 12 crew positions to help create an original short film. The deadCenter University + OFA Studios Acting Lab is a free, two-day workshop where selected participants will train with professional acting coaches at OFA Studios on April 18–19. Participants will gain hands-on experience in acting for the camera, audition techniques, and on-set etiquette while also receiving a professional headshot and self-tape. This intensive program is designed to help emerging actors build confidence and practical skills for film and television.
We’re thrilled about your interest in the deadCenter University Screenwriting Workshop at Rose State College! This FREE exciting opportunity will select up to 15 students to work with professional screenwriting mentors. The top participant will earn the chance to write a credited script for the 2026 deadCenter University & Rose State short film, which will debut at the 27th Annual deadCenter Film Festival and be submitted to additional festivals. Sessions will take place on January 31st & February 1st and February 7th & 8th from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at Rose State College.
We’re thrilled about the very first dCU + OCCC Writer’s Room Workshop! Up to 15 students will learn how to take a script from rough draft to production-ready with guidance from industry professionals. Participants will refine their scripts, collaborate in a writers’ room, and narrow 15 scripts down to 3, with all three reviewed by a professional panel. The top script will be produced in June and premiere at the 2026 deadCenter Film Festival. Applicants must have a completed script that can be shot on the OCCC campus (campus link and tour email available below). Sessions will be held February 28th and March 7th from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the OCCC campus.

Jamie Loy is a deadCenter Film Education + Festival Coordinator, Oklahoma Filmmaker and Actor. Her recent credits include the award-winning films ENDANGERED IN THE OZARKS, LORD FINN, LITTLE CHIEF and THE CHEROKEE WORD FOR WATER. Jamie has worked alongside veteran actors such as Zahn McClarnon, Raoul Trujillo, and Kimberly Guerrero. Apart from her experience in front of the camera; Jamie has significant experience behind the camera in jobs such as Lead Stand-In, Set Decorator, Writer, Stand-In, and Second Assistant Director among others. She is currently enrolled in OCCC’s Digital Cinema Production Program. Jamie’s passion for film comes through in her work in front of and behind the camera.
Victor Caballero is a multi-award-winning filmmaker and actor based in Oklahoma, known for his grounded, emotionally authentic storytelling. With over 20 years of experience in the film and media industry, his work spans writing, acting, producing, and directing. He has appeared in films such as Missing You, Absolution, God’s Not Dead: We the People, Malicious Motives, and the upcoming Transgressions, along with numerous commercial campaigns. His latest film, Until We Weren’t, which he wrote, produced, and directed, further highlights his voice as a storyteller. He also brings a background in broadcast, including time as a reporter for Telemundo Oklahoma City.
Beyond filmmaking, Victor is deeply committed to education and workforce development. He serves on the Advisory Committee for the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication’s Creative Media Marketplace at the University of Oklahoma. As co-founder of Oklahoma Latin American Film and former co-founder of the OKCine Latino Film Institute, he has led hands-on filmmaking programs since 2017, guiding students through every stage of production and helping launch emerging filmmakers across Oklahoma.
