Just Dropped! BAM’S Newest Article on dC’s Oscar®-Qualifying Status

The Oklahoman’s legendary entertainment reporter Brandy McDonnell – a dC Film ICON known in the biz as BAM – dropped a new feature that includes insider info on dC’s status as one of only 27 Film Fests IN THE COUNTRY with Oscar®-qualifying status in all three of the Academy’s® short film categories, Best Live Action Short, Best Animated Short, and now Inasmuch Foundation Award for Best Documentary Short. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Inasmuch Foundation on this new award, which will debut at dCFF25 in June.
Winners in all three short film categories will now be eligible for nominations for the biggest award in film, further solidifying deadCenter as a premier platform for filmmakers striving for industry excellence.

It will be our biggest and best ever, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you and some of the most amazing voices in film, from home-state faves to international stars in the making.
We’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with OFA Studios for the first-ever deadCenter University Acting Labs! This FREE program offers selected participants the chance to train with expert acting coaches at OFA Studios and potentially be involved in this year’s deadCenter University films. Participants will gain valuable experience in on-camera acting, audition techniques, and on-set etiquette and will receive a professional headshot and self-tape. The labs will take place in two weekend sessions, from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Choose the weekend that fits your schedule: April 12-13 or April 26-27.

Teen Film Festival in April
UCO’s Department of Mass Communication is partnering with deadCenter to bring the first-ever Oklahoma Teen Film Festival to UCO’s Edmond campus. The festival will take place from 11 am to 5 pm and feature screenings of selected student films followed by discussions or Q&As, breakout education sessions, workshops, and more.
The dC team is Austin-bound for the annual SXSW Festival this week! They’ll learn from the best and most cutting-edge voices in film and tech AND find amazing films to screen at the 25th Annual deadCenter Film Festival. Watch our socials for all the sights and sounds!
